Update- Post Port Surgery

Morgan had her port surgery yesterday at around 1pm. She was extremely nervous about it and was not looking forward to going in yesterday.

The surgery went well. Exactly as expected and Morgan did great. She was feeling pretty sore and nauseous for most of the day after her surgery.

This morning she woke up with some pain but is on the mend. Her spirits are high knowing this was the final surgery for her. We are hoping that she will be well enough to head back to school tomorrow if all goes well.

Update- Port Surgery

Morgan has been dealing with some breathing issues over this past week. She has found it difficult to catch her breath and has been feeling light headed. She tires quite easily with any walking or physical activity.

Thursday she went into the oncology clinic to get her port flushed and to speak with the doctor. After discussing her symptoms, the oncologist recommended an x-ray which was done right away. All looked good on the x-ray. We will keep a close eye on her and hopefully it is just part of her recovering from all of the damage the chemo has done.

We got word on Friday that Morgan's port removal surgery has been booked for Monday afternoon. This will be a day surgery for Morgan and she will be back home by Monday night. She is quite nervous to have the surgery but is looking forward to no longer having the port in her chest.

Update January- February

Morgan has gotten back into her old routine. Life has, dare I say, returned to somewhat normal. Although Morgan's life has forever been altered and she will have scans and oncology visits for the rest of her life and there will always be the looming threat of relapse and/or new cancer, we are trying our best not to focus on that. We are living life to the fullest and getting back into a normal family routine. Making the most of each day.

Morgan is loving highschool and she is excelling in all of her classes. We are so unbelievably  pleased with that. She has been able to reconnect with her old friends and is even making new ones along the way.

She will continue to have scans and x-rays every three months and we are waiting for the port removal surgery to be booked.

We have been in contact with Make a Wish and our trip to Disney World is tentatively booked for mid May. As long as her port surgery is complete by then, we will be going in May. Morgan is really looking forward to that.

I will continue to update the blog as we progress. Most likely every 3 months as she gets her scans or if anything new comes up. I genuinely thank you all again for your ongoing support and love. It means so much to our family ❤️
